Aicha, living in Tunisia’s isolated north with her husband and youngest son, is haunted by the absence of her eldest sons, Mehdi and Amine, who left for war. When Mehdi unexpectedly returns with a mysterious pregnant wife, an ominous darkness descends, unraveling their village. Torn between her fierce maternal love and an urgent quest for truth, Aicha confronts the shadows threatening her family and community.

Meryam Joobeur is an Academy Award-nominated Tunisian-American director based in Montréal, Canada. Her acclaimed short films include Gods, Weeds and Revolutions (2012) and Born in the Maelstrom (2017), starring Sasha Lane, both of which screened at numerous festivals. Her Oscar-nominated short, Brotherhood (2018), won 75 international awards and screened at over 150 festivals. Co-owner of the Tunisia-based production company Instinct Bleu with Sarra Ben Hassen, Meryam’s debut feature, Who Do I Belong To, continues her tradition of transformative storytelling.
